For those snow birds that have a house tender / home watch service in Southwest Florida, you may consider following these three 3 steps to protect yourself from excessive humidity.

  • Have your HVAC system checked (preventative maintenance twice a year) by a licensed HVAC company.

  • Interview and hire a licensed house tender to inspect your home on a weekly basis.

  • Purchase a relative humidity gauge and place it on or near the thermostat. The house tender / home watch provider should log in the percentage each week. If the percentage is over 60% or higher they should notify you so you can determine if any action is needed.
