Always ask for your licensed/professional HVAC company about any HVAC suggestions.
If your HVAC filter is in position near the air handler coils, it might be being sucked in or laying on the coils which might restrict the air flow. Also it might have a negative influence on the float switch shutting off the system.
A HVAC company recommended the following and we concur with this very good suggestion.
If your AC system is designed to have the filter almost against the coil, this could restricts the flow of water down the coil. Picture 003.
They suggested a temporary fix by leaving it in the top tabs and out of the bottom tabs. When the HVAC system is running you will notice in this picture that it still sucks the filter in toward the coil in Picture 002.
The best way to set up the filter is to set it up as in picture 001 outside of the air handler cabinet. You will need to do this yourself or hire a handy man set up brackets.
